PDA Insurance - Does My Business Need it?

For PDA owners, particularly those who use PDAs for business, insurance can be a very important requirement for business. Although you may not realise it at first, it's very easy to become completely dependent on your PDA - after all it contains details of meetings, contacts, and more - and losing it can quickly throw your life out of sync. Of course, insuring your PDA is generally not enough. While PDA insurance will provide a replacement should yours get stolen and cover repair costs should it get damaged (depending on the policy), it doesn't guarantee you will be able to recover any of the data you had stored. This thought is particularly worrying for PDA addicts who rely on their gadget for any number of tasks. Many insurance companies provide a backup service - usually web based - but even if yours doesn't, it's worth making a habit of backing up your data as often as possible. If you use your PDA for organizing meetings and contacts, see if these can be organized from a web based organizer, such as Gmail, rather than relying on your PDA memory which may not be recoverable should an accident occur. This means that should anything happen to your PDA, you will still be able to organize your schedule from a laptop or desktop computer and maybe even from a backup mobile phone or PDA that has internet access. However, despite everything, even those who backup daily will still come unstuck without insurance for their PDA. Although backing up will make it possible to recover a lot of the lost data, a lack of insurance could see you having to fork out for a brand new PDA. Naturally this can be very expensive and not a cost your business wants to unnecessarily endure. If you are considering getting your PDA insured under a specialist policy or gadget insurance policy, be sure to read the small print. Most policies will provide cover for theft and damage, while others will go that little bit further providing cover for eventualities like water damage as well. Comparison sites make it easy to compare quotes from a number of different insurance companies, and make it easy to see which company really offers the very best deal. For those who use their PDA for travelling a lot as well, it's worth checking to see if the policy provides international cover. International cover basically provides the same cover abroad as your PDA is eligible for at home.
